The Good, The Bad, and The Disgusting

On a recent morning, I literally woke up with a song in my heart.

I would sing it, but you wouldn't want that. So please, use this orchestra and the lyrics below, and sing it loud!

"Indictment" by Little Sister Resister
sung to the tune of "Maria" from West Side Story
(Apologies to Steven Sondheim and Leonard Bernstein)

🎼 Indictment....
The most beautiful sound I ever heard.

Indictment, Indictment, Indictment, Indictment...

All the beautiful sounds of the world in a single word…

Indictment, Indictment, Indictment, Indictment...

Indictment! I just heard a word called Indictment,
And suddenly I knew
The thug will get his due
Next year...

Indictment! 🎵

Jack just spoke a word of Indictment
The fifth one that has been
For the would-be 'Murican king
Finally...!

Indictment!

🎶 Say it loud and the jail doors are clashing –
Say it soft and it's like ketchup splashing –
Indictment…
I'll never stop saying
Indictment!

Indictment, Indictment, Indictment, Indictmeeeent...

Indictment, Indictment, Indictmennnt, Indictment...

Say it loud and the gavel is knocking –
🎵Say it soft and it's like felons walking –

Indictment…
I'll never stop saying
Indictment!

The most beautiful word I ever heard –
Indictment.

Yes, Don the Con has been indicted for a fifth time! Another grand jury in Washington D.C. found ample evidence to charge him with crimes surrounding the January 6 insurrection.

It's a superseding indictment; they are the same charges as those that were filed before, but massaged a bit into something that complies with the recent Supreme Court's ruling that granted him immunity kingship.

Dave Whamond

The case is still in Judge Tanya Chutkin's hands. You can read about the details in The Baltimore Sun or WaPo. Let's hope this one sticks!

Pat Bagley

I've been away for a couple weeks and weird things just keep coming out. I'll try to catch up with the goings-on in Batshit Crazy Township, as well as give a rundown on the joyful, hopeful, normal campaign on the left.

The IncrediNormals
I missed most of the Democratic National Convention because I was traveling. I hope you caught some of the speeches, from Mayor Pete to AOC and Bernie Sanders.

Michele Obama gave a rousing and inspirational speech, and Barack Obama **sigh** I love the guy. He's such a smart speaker. And bonus! He made a "small crowds" joke. Watch his speech!

On the first night, Joe Biden handed over the reins with his moving, patriotic address, and of course, the woman of the hour, Kamala Harris, firmly took the reins on night four and started the gallop.

A bunch of Republicans took the stage to throw their support behind Harris, including former T**** press secretary and Melania aide Stephanie Grisham and former Pence advisor Oliva Troye.

One highlight was DJ Cassidy playing walk-up songs for each state's delegate announcing that state's votes. Li'l Jon even made a live appearance during Georgia's roll call with this rousing performance:
The most moving moment of the four-day convention, which the Repugs immediately tainted as only they can (more later), came when Gus Walz, Tim and Gwen Walz's 17-year-old neurodivergent child, expressed purest love and pride in an emotional moment.

Gus Walz has 1000 times the emotional intelligence that either of the GOP candidates have. You already know that, but you'll see more evidence below.

For the full Democratic National Convention, click these links:

"Weird" doesn't cut it anymore. It's just getting gross now.
It is hard – both emotionally and logistically – to document all the shit coming from the MAGAts, but for the past eight years I've been committed to documenting every nutty piece of feculence that emerges. And for the past couple of weeks, it has been absolutely fetid.

Bullies to the core. Forever.
As I said earlier, the Right in its infinite cruelty mocked Gus Walz after his heart-warming emotional reaction to his father's remarks on the DNC stage. The scummy Ann Coulter, for example, posted this on non-Twitter:

Why, Ann. Just, why? You are gross.

Coulter did remove the non-tweet after she found out that Gus is neurodivergent. But, really, should that matter? I, and many of you, were also expressing strong emotions during the DNC. Tears, laughter, all of it. No one should be mocked for it.

Two Chicago radio personalities also mocked Gus. They, too, apologized after learning Gus has some learning disorders. They lost their positions.

And Milwaukee radio talk show guy Jay Weber wrote this on non-Twitter: "Sorry, but this is embarrassing for both father and son. If the Walzs [sic] represent today’s American man, this country is screwed; ‘Meet my son, Gus. He’s a blubbering bitch boy. His mother and I are very proud.'"

There aren't words to tell you what I think about these people. Always punching down; it's the only way they can feel good about themselves.

More bullying.
Playground bully JD Vance dug up an old video of a 2007 beauty contestant's widely-mocked answer to a question during her pageant. You may remember the video: a Miss Teen USA contestant was asked a question about the woeful geography knowledge in the USA. Her response was just as woeful; she struggled to answer and was made the butt of jokes immediately.

Vance used the video to mock and attack Kamala's debate prep. The thing is this. Miss South Carolina, Caite Upton, had suffered savage bullying and mocking – online and in person – after her unfortunate answer 17 years ago. So much so that she contemplated suicide.

She expressed her dismay at Vance's use of the video as another version of online bullying. Here was a chance for Vance to show some humanity and contrition. But Vance, never the one to show regret nor apologize, especially to a *shudder* woman, continued his bullying by appearing on CNN and responding thusly: He brushed off the video as “a 20-year-old meme” and said Upton should “laugh it off."

"Politics has got way too lame. You can have some fun while making an argument to the American people about improving their lives. I’m not going to apologize for posting a joke – but I wish the best for Caitlin and hope she’s doing well.”

Classic abusive behavior.

Lewd is his middle name.
I hate to write about this one, but Diaper Don has spiraled into new depths. You didn't think it was possible to go lower, did you? Well, here we go.

IQ45 reposted a post that appeared on his social media site. A photo of Kamala Harris and Hilary Clinton was posted with the caption: "Funny how blowjobs impacted both their careers differently..." This candidate for president of the United States thought it appropriate enough to share.

By way of explanation (I hate to give it oxygen, but this stuff needs to be brought into the light), it is a reference, of course, to Hilary Clinton's husband's dalliance which led to his 1999 impeachment, and to Harris's brief romantic partner 20 years ago, former San Francisco mayor Willie Brown.

How presidential!

Then the visit to Arlington National Cemetery.

Darrin Bell

My readers don't need to be reminded that Arlington National Cemetery is hallowed ground. It's obvious.

For others, though, there are rules and regulations and federal laws protecting the sanctity of the cemetery. There is even a sign on Arlington's grounds:

I know that none of my readers would take a selfie or video with a thumb's-up among fallen soldiers’ grave markers and then post it to social media as part of their campaign for public office, in direct violation of minimum decorum and respect, not to mention violation of the Hatch Act. But yet, here we are.

Not only that, but when confronted and reminded of the rules and the law, an Army cemetery official was verbally abused and physically assaulted. She was pushed aside and later called mentally ill for her efforts in trying to prevent desecration of the memory of the fallen, which was playing out before her.

And it goes on. The New York Times reported that cemetery official declined to press charges, because she feared retaliation from T**** or his minions. She understands that's what thugs do: bully and intimidate.

The Army chimed in, defending their official and condemning the campaign's actions. They issued a written statement about the incident. They do not do this often. For the Army to take to paper: it's big.

JD Vance again, managing to stick another foot in his ample mouth: "You guys in the media... You’re actin' like Donald Trump filmed a TV commercial at a gravesite."

The TV commercial at the gravesite:

David Horsey

Kamala Harris did not immediately respond to the incident. Yet, the liars and grifters that are the MAGAt ticket, filled the void. JD Vance again. He lambasted Harris, saying at a rally that she can "Go to hell!" for the statement that she didn't give.

It's just gross. What universe are we living in? The Upside Down is creeping back, folks. Big time.

And the run-of-the mill weird...

Campaign stop at a local donut shop? Why sure!
This speaks for itself. So effing weird and cringey!

Contrast to Tim Walz's stop into a local food shop:

JD Vance's warped views of women and championship of toxic masculinity came more into focus. According to The Guardian, in a 2021 podcast, Vance "said that professional women 'choose a path to misery' when they prioritize careers over having children. ... he also claimed men in America were 'suppressed' in their masculinity."

He also attacked childless teachers in another 2021 interview, where he said that they “disorient” and “really disturb” him.

Go jump in a lake, JD.

This racist shit.

Meltdown on Convention Night.

The Rabid Yam called to whine on FAUX News on night four of the DNC.

Same ol' schtick.
They couldn't get him to shut up:
Until they cut him off 😂.

Mocking Kamala's "thank yous."
What a weirdo!

Delirious Don is Disintegrating.
His language is getting worse. His daily rants are getting more and more unintelligible. Take a bit from a recent Michigan campaign stop (thanks to MSNBC for this because I don't watch them oh my gawd are you kidding me?). Speaking about his opponent, Kamala Harris:
She destroyed the city of San Francisco, it’s — and I own a big building there — it’s no — I shouldn’t talk about this but that’s OK I don’t give a damn because this is what I’m doing. I should say it’s the finest city in the world — sell and get the hell out of there, right? But I can’t do that. I don’t care, you know? I lost billions of dollars, billions of dollars. You know, somebody said, ‘What do you think you lost?’ I said, ‘Probably two, three billion. That’s OK, I don’t care.’ They say, ‘You think you’d do it again?’ And that’s the least of it. Nobody. They always say, I don’t know if you know. Lincoln was horribly treated. Uh, Jefferson was pretty horribly. Andrew Jackson they say was the worst of all, that he was treated worse than any other president. I said, ‘Do that study again, because I think there’s nobody close to Trump.’ I even got shot! And who the hell knows where that came from, right?

Who the hell knows indeed.

We've known he is disordered for a long time. But now, finally, his cultists are noticing. The Guardian noted this from one voter:
“He reminded me why I’m not going to vote for him this time,” said Jenny, a local businesswoman who did not want to give her full name because she didn’t want to alienate customers.

“I voted for him in 2016 and had a Trump flag in the front yard. I voted for him again in 2020 but didn’t put the flag out that time. I’ve been thinking of voting for him again because Biden’s been so bad for the economy and Kamala won’t be any better. But after listening to that, I’m actually afraid of Trump being president again. I don’t know what he was talking about half the time. Perhaps he was always like that but he seems worse, more unstable.”

If you can stomach it, here are some snippets:
He's confessing again.
What a maroon!

MAGA Crunch.

It's real. It's a parody, but you can really buy it for the cool price of $24.99. Some in the MAGAverse don't understand the parody, which isn't too difficult to understand.

Let's work hard to make Cheetolini irrelevant.
Your regular reminder: Let's ACT!
  • Help others register to vote. Did you know Texas purged its voter records and knocked a whole lot of people off the registration list? Beto O'Roarke is helping to get people registered and re-registered. If you can, please help out his organization, Powered by People: donate or volunteer! You can also help get voters to the polls by reminding your friends and family to check their registration status (check yours too!) no matter where they live. Or help the League of Women Voters with a donation or your time.
  • Make a donation to the DNC, to the Harris/Walz ticket, or to a candidate that you want to see win. The fragrance of a flipped House of Representatives is getting stronger. If we can flip some seats and hang on to the Senate, a lot of good things can happen!
  • Volunteer to make phone calls or knock on doors.
  • Write postcards! Postcards to Voters still needs help keeping Floridians enfranchised, and I think soon they will start postcard campaigns for blue candidates. This organization writes only to registered Democrats, and it helps get the blue wave going!
  • or do this:
  • Most importantly, make a plan to vote. We must keep the momentum going and show up to the polls on November 5! This election depends on turnout! We need to make this a loud and clear message that we're not going to take it any more!

And now.... memes 'n toons

The Latest

One more post before a week's vacation and the Democratic National Convention. I'm just throwing a bunch of stuff up!

This Week in Bonkersville
Donnie had a conversation with Elon Musk on Twitter. There was a bit of kerfuffle in that it started 45 minutes late due to technical difficulties. Muskie made all kind of excuses for a technical glitch at his technical company. It finally got underway, but I don't think Elmo was subject to the same ranting about making him wait that the National Association of Black Journalists were.

It was a love-fest, not an interview. Musk is not a journalist; he is just another billionaire advocate for the kind of doo-doo that Boo-boo do so well.

It was the same old tired song. All the lies laid out yet again.  But there were a couple tidbits that came out of it.

The main takeaway was that Li'l Donnie was slurring badly during the 90 minute conversation. It sounded mostly like a lateral lisp on all his sibilant sounds, just overall super mushy dysarthric speech. Here are a lot of clips from David Packman, who not only talks about the speech but also the content of the bizarre event. See below.

And our wonderful Stephen Colbert adds his skewer during his monologue. The Musk bit starts at about 3:08, but I'm giving you the whole monologue from the beginning.

I am a speech-language pathologist, and I've talked about IckyBod Crane's speech and language disorders many times in the past. I've speculated that he may be experiencing transient ischemic attacks (TIAs), or "mini strokes," which can acutely affect speech and language, and when there are a lot of them, can be the underpinnings of multi-infant dementia.

So, my wild speculation about this event: it wasn't technical difficulties but maybe a TIA-ish event that occurred just before the conversation was to begin. Maybe he decided to forge ahead with the the event without being fully out of the TIA.

Or maybe he had a TIA during the conversation. Or maybe something else is going on.

What ever is happening, it is concerning. Something is wrong.

When S.V. Daté of Huffpost asked the campaign about his slurred speech, they responded with, "Must be your shitty hearing. Get your ears checked out." Charming.

Speaking of Speech
The Rabid Yam and Vance hate that Harris sometimes does a bit of code-switching, accusing her of being an "chameleon" and using a "fake Southern accent." Fun fact: we all do it, Black people do it a lot, and it isn't a bad thing. It's just a thing. Linguist John McWhorter tells you more.

Second fun fact: JD, you do it too, with ya talkin' all Appalachian-like sometimes! Here's just one recent example. Get over it, weirdo.

Just for fun, here's my favorite code-switching example from Key and Peele:

Campaigning to Friends
While Harris and Walz have been traversing the country all over the dang place, Cheeto Mussolini has scaled back his appearances. He made one campaign stop during the week of August 5: to deep red Montana, which he won in 2020 by 16 points. No need to campaign there, dumb-head. In the same span, Harris and Walz had planned to visit seven states (they had to postpone North Carolina and Georgia due to weather).

In fact, in the period of July 18 when the RNC convention concluded until August 9, when he went to Montana, he had made five campaign stops, while Harris and Walz made that many stops in one week.

So, what is it, Donold? Your mental endurance? Physical endurance? Feelin' poorly? You afraid? Giving up? Donold, why you so skittish?

Project 2025 Stuff
A couple weeks ago, Paul Dans, the director of The Heritage Foundation resigned. Some thought it would mean the end of Project 2025, but we must not buy into that. TЯUMP is embracing its tenets as his own, including recently slurring about doing away with the Department of Education:

It's clear that T****, despite trying to distance himself from P25, fully embraces the plan. Secret recordings were made of Russell Vought, the co-author of P25. A pair of British journalists went undercover and secretly recorded him. See video here:

ProPublica got hold of some of Project 2025's training videos. Part of P25's plan is to have political operatives trained and ready to hit the ground running when the next Republican president gets sworn in. This entails training in advance.

We have been wrapped up in the wonderland of the Harris/Walz ticket. We must not lose sight of the consequences of a loss in November. Project 2025 is still out there. It's a blueprint ready to implement, and it is scary shit.

The DNC has not forgotten and is doing this in Chicago, where the Convention is getting underway tonight:

Whose plane?!
Hair Force One had some mechanical issues while en route to Montana for a rally, so it had to land and they had to borrow another plane. The plane they used? It belonged to Jeffrey Epstein. Ewwwww! Don't sit on those seats!

And very, very weird, from JD Vance. He said this on Fox News Sunday: "Giving Kamala Harris control over inflation policy... it's like giving Jeffrey Epstein control over human trafficking policy."

LSR does a double take. Ummm.... come again?

Do they really think they are making political points when they remind us all of the passenger logs on that evil plane with those evil men?

Let's never forget that, when speaking about Ghislain Maxwell, King Leer said "I wish her well."

Foot in Mouth Disease
Vance put his foot in his ample mouth yet again when he agreed in a 2020 podcast that the “the whole purpose of the postmenopausal female” is to raise grandchildren.

Meme makers have been a little slow to respond to this new-and-improved insult to American women, so I made one. Here's my attempt:

I love this one:

Read Alexandra Petri's take in WaPo. And then, make a plan to vote.

Do not piss off Swifties!
The Fanta Fascist posted a fake AI image of Taylor Swift with some stupid made-up endorsement caption and wrote "I accept!" I'm not posting the image because I don't want to give it more oxygen. It is bound to backfire badly. You can bet Tay-tay did not take kindly to it. I hope she responds ...um, swiftly.

The helicopter crash with Willie Brown that didn't happen
The Absurd Ass asserted that he was in a helicopter with former San Francisco mayor Willie Brown ("who I know very well") when it went down. "I thought maybe this was the end."

Except – surprise – it didn't happen. He may be mis-remembering an incident with former California state senator Nate Holden, who was in a helicopter in 1990 with Don the Con when it had to make an emergency landing. Holden said, "Willie is the short Black guy living in San Francisco. I'm a tall Black guy living in Los Angeles."

Trumpty Dumbty doubled down, repeating the story even after it was debunked.

Willie Brown is not happy and has threatened to sue if he keeps telling the story with Brown's name in it.

It just won't stop.

Yet another laughable moment
Earlier this month, the stock market had a bad day after a not-so-good jobs report; the Dow ended 1000 points lower. 🚼 jumped on the news, calling it "the Kamala crash." Trouble is, the next trading day, the market regained about 60% of its loss, and since then has been climbing. The Dow is at record levels; it's at 40,884 as of this writing.  The Daily Show looks at it:

Found this interesting graphic:

Grasping at straws
The GOP is trying to smear Tim Walz's "ties" to China and twist it into something nefarious. What experience does he have in China? According to the AP, : "At 25, Walz taught a year of high school in China. He returned for his honeymoon and many more times with American exchange students. As a congressman, he served on a committee tracking China’s human rights and met figures like the Dalai Lama."

Oooooh! Nefarious stuff!

They also want to make an issue of a DUI that Walz committed. I will never defend DUI, but he handled his 1995 incident the Walz Way. The 31-year-old pleaded guilty, resigned as coach and tried to resign as teacher (his principal talked him into staying). He took his punishment of 90-day suspended license and $200 fine, and he stopped drinking. Forever.

Go ahead, MAGAts. Smear that.

They also want to fault him for the response to the protests in the wake of George Floyd's death. He was a little delayed in calling the National Guard in, yes. Here is a fact-check on the events.

Criticize all you want for political points, boys, but at the time even your Burrito Supreme Leader praised Walz's actions.

Try again, Losers.

Disgusting racism. It's their brand
Look at this post. Who buys this shit?!

Diaper Don asserts "I'm better looking than she is"

And maybe the weirdest thing this week
Vance Jizz Cups. No, yeah, they are real.

*LSR checks thesaurus* How many ways can you say "What the actual fuck!"? I'm running out.

The weird just keeps coming.
I'm having trouble keeping up with it. I'll be away for a while, so resisters, keep sending me the stuff. I'll do what I can to catch up next week!!

On the Normal Front
Campaign talking points
It won't matter to the cult followers who believe every lie, but the truth is more compelling. A couple of political points have been scored by Kamala and Walz. The two main points that the campaign team has encouraged – but failed – to get him to focus on are immigration and the economy.

Both are improving.

Immigration numbers down. Beds are empty at migrant centers.

By all measures, the economy is on the upswing. Inflation has cooled, wages are up, jobs are up, the stock market is up, and the Fed is poised to lower interest rates next month.

A love letter
Here's a piece from a former student of Walz.

Weird is working
Allan Lichtman adroitly observed recently: "Republicans have no principles; Democrats have no spine."

True no longer! We have a New Democratic Party, spine intact. We can embrace some new sayings:

Meme Dump! Enjoy!
